How do I know if I am accepted into SSS?
The USF Admissions Office will determine your university admission status. Once admitted via the SSS pathway, you will then receive a Welcome email from SSS. The Welcome email will be sent from UGS-AskSSS@usf.edu to the email address provided on the SSS Eligibility Assessment Form (available October 1).
I have been accepted into the SSS program. What is next?
After USF has made an admission decision, new admits will receive a Welcome email from SSS, Be sure to read the welcome email thoroughly to understand next steps. The email will include a link to the SSS Canvas page that will walk new admits through the onboarding and enrollment process.
Does participation in the SSS summer bridge program ensure admission in the fall semester?
Successful completion of the summer bridge program ensures continued enrollment eligibility for the fall semester. Students must complete all program requirements and finish the summer term in good academic standing with a GPA of 2.0 or higher in order to continue into the fall semester.
How do I apply for financial aid?
To be considered for financial aid, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at . Students participating in SSS must complete both the 2026-27 FAFSA and the 2027-28 FAFSA. This allows students to receive financial aid for Summer 2027 as well as the Fall 2027 and Spring 2028 semesters. We strongly encourage students to complete both FAFSA applications as soon as possible. For additional information, visit the USF Financial Aid website.
Who will provide my academic and personal counseling?
Upon acceptance into the SSS program, you will be assigned an SSS counselor who will serve as one of your primary support resources throughout your college experience. Your counselor will assist with academic planning, personal concerns, goal setting, and connecting you to campus resources. In addition to your SSS counselor, you will also have a major academic advisor who will help guide your progress toward graduation. To address any personal concerns, USF also offers professional counseling services through the USF Counseling Center.
What classes will I take and will I earn college credit?
For the SSS summer bridge program a summer class schedule is created based on a cohort model to enhance student success. The SSS team will register participants for summer courses. During USF Orientation, students will meet with an academic advisor to discuss future semesters. Schedule changes will be made as needed based on participants' standardized test scores, high school transcript, any college credits earned before high school graduation, and intended major. During the summer term students, will have the opportunity to earn up to 9 credit hours that count toward degree and help students get a head start on thier college journey.
Am I required to live in the residence halls?
Yes. All first-year SSS students are required to live in the residence halls during the summer, fall, and spring semesters - including students who live in the Tampa Bay area. Living on campus helps students build connections, engage with campus resources, and develop a strong sense of community. Students may reside anywhere they choose after completing their first year (on-campus, off-campus, at home, etc.).
