Snippets

Overview

Snippets are blocks of content created and maintained by UCM to allow the use of special design elements on a Gallery or Text page.

When creating internal articles, news site users can choose from our list of Text Page Snippets or our specially created News Snippets. All News Snippets will start with the naming convention "News -".

Insert a News Snippet

  1. Click the puzzle piece icon in the WYSIWYG Editor.
  2. Use the "Filter by name" field to type "News" or scroll to the "News" Snippets.
  3. Choose the News Snippet you would like to use.
  4. Click Insert.

Rearrange Snippets on a News Page

Save a version of the page before rearranging any snippets. Add a note in Version description: about the version you are saving. For example, "Before rearranging snippets", so you can compare changes and/or revert the page if needed.
  1. Click within the snippet you would like to move.
  2. Look at the bottom left-hand corner of the web page. There will be a thin bar with text, beginning with Path: table.
  3. Hover over the text that begins with table (this will create an underline and allow you to click), then click. This will select the entire snippet.

  4. Use the keyboard shortcut to copy (Ctrl + C or Command + C), or use the Copy button in the WYSIWYG toolbar.

  5. Place your cursor where you would like the snippet to be located instead.
  6. Use the keyboard shortcut to paste (Ctrl + V or Command + V), or use the Paste button in the WYSIWYG toolbar.

  7. Click within the original snippet, then click the X button (Delete table) in the snippet's toolbar to delete it.

Pullquote

The Pullquote Snippet highlights a quote from an article and displays it graphically. It can be aligned on the left or right side of the page.

The Rotator Snippet creates a photo carousel; each with its own caption.

Text and Image

The Text and Image Snippet creates a two-column section of content with text, and image, aligned on the left or right side of the page, and the option to display a heading.

Video Embed

The Video Embed Snippet embeds a (YouTube) video within an article, spanning the width of the content well.
