Beginning in April 2027, digital course materials and online learning environments will be subject to enhanced accessibility requirements under federal ADA regulations. More importantly, digital accessibility helps ensure that every student and faculty member can fully engage with and benefit from course content.

Join the Workshop Pilot and Acquire Early YuJa Access
We have developed a fully online pilot workshop that provides up-to-date digital accessibility concepts, practical guidance, and hands-on instruction for both YuJa and Studio. Data collection for the pilot version concluded on October 2, and the feedback surveys are now closed. A new version of the workshop is scheduled to launch in mid-November. In the meantime, we will continue to keep the pilot version open for faculty who wish to learn more about YuJa, Studio, and digital accessibility. Faculty who enroll in the workshop will also have the option of receiving early access to YuJa. If you are interested in enrolling in the workshop, please email facultysupport@usf.edu.
Information Session on Preparing for New Digital Accessibility Requirements
The following one-hour information sessions will provide faculty with a brief overview of upcoming digital accessibility requirements for Canvas courses, demonstrations of new digital accessibility solutions including YuJa Panorama and Canvas Studio, and how these tools can help optimize the accessibility of digital course content. For your convenience, we offer four sessions to choose from.

ACCESS Framework
The ACCESS Framework is a model faculty can use to optimize the digital accessibility of USF Canvas courses.
This simple yet comprehensive framework distills the standards into six easy-to-follow items. Collectively, these standards provide USF
faculty with a clear path for optimizing their Canvas courses and improving the learning
experience for students. Our fully online workshop, described above, provides hands-on
guidance for using the framework to optimize courses, along with the tools available
to address each item.

YuJa Panorama and Canvas Studio can help optimize the accessibility of most Canvas content, including files, content pages, and video captions. However, the following are additional Canvas accessibility tools you may wish to explore.
Additional Tools for Adding Image Alt Text
The recommended tool for identifying and remediating image accessibility issues, including missing or inadequate alt text (alternative text), is YuJa Panorama. However, here are a few platform-specific options you may explore.
USF Student Accessibility Services (SAS)
USF Student Accessibility Services (SAS) provides support and accommodations to eligible students with disabilities. Students who have been approved for accommodations should work directly with SAS, and their instructors should coordinate with SAS in the implementation the approved accommodations.
