Virtual Global Exchange Academy

Full-time faculty are invited to participate in the Virtual Global Exchange (VGE) Academy during the 2026–2027 academic year. This professional learning community is designed to support faculty in developing collaborative, globally focused teaching practices that enrich student learning through international engagement. Participants will redesign course content to incorporate Virtual Global Exchange activities—collaborative online experiences that connect USF students with peers from institutions around the world. These exchanges use technology to promote intercultural understanding, foster global perspectives, and create meaningful cross-cultural dialogue.

Throughout the Academy, faculty will explore key topics such as:

  • Designing and managing VGE collaborations
  • Fostering intercultural learning and student engagement
  • Utilizing effective digital tools and platforms
  • Assessing global learning outcomes

Early in the Academy, each faculty member will identify an international teaching partner and begin co-developing a cross-cultural, interdisciplinary, and transformative virtual exchange module. In order to make the Virtual Global Exchange Academy a meaningful experience for all involved, members are expected to attend 4 interactive virtual sessions this Fall:

  • Session 1: Thursday September 24th  11-1pm
  • Session 2: Friday October 9th 1-3pm
  • Session 3: Thursday October 29 11-1pm
  • Session 4: Tuesday  November 17th 1-3pm

Note: Sessions will be recorded in case a faculty member cannot make ONE session. First hour will be presentation, second hour will be discussion, group work, and course projects.

Upon successful completion of the Academy (workshops, partnering events, and course design), each participant will receive a digital badge. Also, each participant is eligible to receive $1200 upon earning the badge and implementing at least a four-week VGE component in a USF course in the AY 2026-2027.
