Application Process

For admission related questions, see Admission FAQs.

There is one application process for all potential graduate school students at USF. Use the link above to access the application.

To be considered for graduate studies in CEE, you must complete the application, upload the following information, and pay the graduate application fee:

  1. Statement of Purpose
  2. Current resume
  3. Contact information for 2-3 references who will be requested to send letters of recommendation. We recommend that at least 2 of the letters come from faculty members who are familiar with you.
  4. Unofficial university transcripts
  5. Optional: Unofficial GRE scores or verification of passing the fundamentals of engineering (FE) or professional engineers (PE) exam.*
  6. Unofficial TOEFL/IELTS scores (only international students)

*Note: As of Fall 2026, submission of GRE scores is optional. However, submission of GRE scores above the preferred minimum can improve your chance of admission. Scores earned should be within two years of the desired term of entry. Students are also encouraged to submit verification of passing the fundamentals of engineering (FE) or professional engineers (PE) exam. Applicants can obtain verification from the PE board where the certificate was obtained.

The institution code for USF is 5828 and applies to all tests administered by ETS.

Official scores must be submitted to USF directly from the Educational Testing Service, but applicants may provide unofficial copies for their test scores to expedite the processing of their applications. Any admission granted using unofficial scores will not be finalized until official scores from ETS are received.

You may send your official transcripts directly to Graduate Admissions to be added to your application:
