THe Witch's garden: Gendered lineages of healing

Wednesday, October 14th, 3:30-5:00 PM (CMC 202T)

Come get to know the witch as healer and learn about the historical persecution of witches for their resistance to the rise of agrarian capitalism and the enforcement of heteronormativity. Facilitated by Dr. Taylor Rose Wondergem, this hybrid, interactive event locates witches in historical context, introduces students to herbal medicine, and offers insights into majoring in WGS. Together, we will connect with the changing season, learn about herbal medicine, and explore the witch as a keeper of gendered lineages of healing. In-person attendees will enjoy food and leave with homemade herbal bath salts.

About Dr. Taylor Rose Wondergem: Taylor Rose Wondergem holds a PhD in Feminist Studies with a designated emphasis in Critical Race and Ethnic Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz. She is a strategist, educator, facilitator, and community herbalist. Weaving together herbalism and political education, she offers clinical support, workshops, and educational programs rooted in earth reconnection, ancestral healing, and collective survival.

Office Hours: Toward Alternative Futures Art Exhibition Opening Reception

Open through Spring 2027

This exhibition has been curated by students in Dr. Jocelyn Marshall's Critical Perspectives and Contemporary Art course using work from the permanent collection of USF's Contemporary Art Museum. It imagines new possibilities through acts of refusal and redefinition. The selected artwork centers themes of visibility, embodiment, and resistance by exploring how marginalized communities navigate oppressive societal systems.

Office hours are typically a time for asking questions, testing ideas, and thinking aloud. Situated within academia, this communal space becomes an active ground for dialogue and reflection. At a moment when the future feels uncertain, this exhibition turns the shared space into an exploration of creative practices vital to imagining and building alternative futures. As student curators, we invite you to join us in questioning, reimagining, and reshaping together a more just world.
