What mangrove leaves reveal about microplastic pollution in Tampa Bay
08/28/26 — Microplastics can be found throughout Tampa Bay's waters, but little is known about how they accumulate on plant surfaces. USF graduate student Kate McLendon is examining mangrove leaves to better understand these hidden pollutants and their impact on coastal habitats.
08/27/26 — National Geographic films at the ÐÜèAVÃâ·Ñ for a documentary exploring how paleontology and artificial intelligence are helping scientists study some of the world’s smallest creatures, with Associate Professor Ryan Carney and his team applying dinosaur-identification techniques to mosquitoes in Africa and developing a 3D-printed AI smart trap to identify and map mosquito species.
