What We Do
About Group Counseling
THE COUNSELING CENTER OFFERS BOTH IN-PERSON AND VIRTUAL DROP-IN WORKSHOPS, AS WELL AS ONGOING THERAPY GROUPS.
Group counseling sessions offer an opportunity for you to meet others (virtually or in-person) who have similar experiences and who also want to pursue personal growth.

INTERESTED IN JOINING AN ONGOING THERAPY GROUP?
Therapy groups are highly effective for addressing mental health and other personal
concerns. Students can get connected to a therapy group through a referral by their
individual therapist. Individual therapists will consider a student's interest and
clinical
needs and schedule a pre-group appointment, if appropriate. A pre-group appointment
with the group facilitator(s) is needed before attending one of the four therapy groups
below. Call us at 813-974-2831 or talk to your counselor to get started.
UNDERSTANDING SELF AND OTHERS (USO)

Topics are based on current group member concerns, with common issues related to self-identification, intersectionality, transition, coming out, dating, family and religion. All sexual orientations and gender identities are welcome.

THERAPY GROUPS
Before joining an in-person therapy group, current students must first meet with a counselor for an individual appointment then be referred to a required "pre-group" appointment to meet with the facilitator(s) running the group. Click here to learn how to make an appointment with us! Most groups have 5-8 members and meet once a week.
These services are specific to Tampa campus, although all USF students are welcome
to join these drop-in workshops. Please visit the websites for and for campus-specific services.
