Research Areas

With over 20 years of research experience, Dr. Alya Limayem has made significant contributions to drug resistance, nanotherapeutics, and microbial contamination control from wastewaters to hospital settings.

Her work focuses on developing nanocomposite antimicrobial systems to combat multidrug-resistant pathogens and advance public health protection, productivity, and broader impact through applied biotechnological innovation. She has received multiple honors, including the Best Researcher Award from the ÐÜèAVÃâ·Ñ (2020), the Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine of Florida (ASEMFL), a Rising Star Award, and recognition as a Senior Member of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI).

Dr. Limayem’s research is supported by competitive grants, and she holds several patents with publications in high-impact international journals including the Journal Progress in Energy & Combustion Science (PECS, Impact Factor: 32.0). A dedicated mentor and educator, she fosters interdisciplinary and global collaborations that drive innovation to serve public health and economic growth.

Dr. Limayem is the Automated Microbial Detection & Nanoengineered Therapeutics Lab Director.
